Absolutely. The Carrollton/University Area is one the safest areas in New Orleans due to the active neighborhood crime watch as well as high police visibility. One can walk around here safely even after dark. However, if you visit the French Quarter or use public transportation use the same good judgment you would in any other large city and avoid dark streets or bleighted neighborhoods.
There are several options available to reach Downtown, Convention Center, and the French Quarter, easily. We are just 2 blocks away from the bus line by foot. We are also 4 Blocks from the St. Charles Streetcar. If you wish to go by taxi, it is about a ten dollar cab ride. Our recommended cab company is United cab company at 522-9771
Airport taxis are flat rated at $25.00 plus tip. It is about 15 minutes by cab to The Fig House, traffic permitting. To make reservations for pickup at the airport please call United Cabs at 1-800-323-3303. The airport shuttle is $11 per person, with an approximate arrival time to The Fig House at about an hour to and hour and a half as it will make several stops..
The Audubon Zoo, River Bend area, and French Quarter are available from the St. Charles Street Car Line. And since The Fig House is on the Carrollton Bus Line, you can take the bus anywhere. A day and weekly pass are sold by RTA at the Whitney Bank. Many restaurants are within a 2 to 3 block walk. And Rock-N-Bowl is close.
We are located off Earhart Blvd. about a 15 minute drive to the Convention Center and Warehouse District. However, the Convention Center is large, so check with the convention center for details of where your meeting is scheduled to take place.
We have a laundry area on premises the guests are welcome to use. We ask that guests refrain from using the facilities until after housekeeping is finished with the daily laundry.
Only registered guests are allowed for safety reasons. Guests can be invited when management informed.
Feel free to bring your laptop computer along with you. All rooms have an additional jack so you may hook up your computer. Please contact your internet service provider about local calling areas and fees. Some rooms have a network connection and DSL line available.
No meter on street parking is available. There is also a single car driveway available.
No. Each guest will be given a key to the side exterior door. The house is well insulated so no one should be disturbed if you come in late

Fig House has found that more and more of its guests are non smokers. therefore we ask for you not to smoke in your room but on the front porch or patio.
